Contracts with Wiltshire Council
Useful Information - Useful Information
You'll remember that we sent out details last month explaining the tendering process for government contracts.  One of our members has since attended a meeting in Chippenham with Wiltshire Council and has reported back as follows:

'I spoke with their procurement officer (Rae) about tender lists and how to get on them. It appears that no such lists exist however different councils tended to use favoured contractors for such tenders.  The newly formed  Wiltshire Council have a 'crystal clear' policy where contractors register their wish to be on the tender register, so doing away with the old favoured tendering system.

Under £5000 in value an order may be issued without the tender process, £5,000 to £25,000 requires 3 tenders and over £25,000 5 tenders.  Once you register an interest in the type and value of works that you wish to tender for, they will e-mail you when contracts arise for tender.  You can also view upcoming tenders on-line.  So all you have to do is register your business at
www.buywiltshire.co.uk

Wiltshire College have a similar scheme. We used to get a lot of work from the former Salisbury College but it seems we dropped off the radar when new people were brought in with the amalgamation of the four colleges.  Hopefully with these new systems things will change.'

This is a very encouraging message so, should you be thinking of registering your business but haven't quite got round to it, perhaps this is the time to act?

kind regards
