Economic Development Strategy PDF Print E-mail

In 2004, TDCC identified the need for an Economic Development Strategy for the Community Area.

We engaged consultants to research and define the strategy.

We managed the process of producing the strategy and communicating it to the key stakeholders in the community area.

We also assisted in communicating the strategy to the funding bodies in the wider UK.

Projects identified by the Economic Development Strategy are as follows

  • Balance the Community Area population - a stable foundation of civilian population to balance the fluctuating military population. That is, plan and build many hundreds of houses in the Community Area.
  • Provide decent work - that is, plan and execute the provision of modern employment facilities for larger, established businesses and ‘incubator' units for start-up businesses. These businesses should sustain high value employment for locally based people.
  • Provide recreation - sports facilities, entertainment facilities, events, restaurants, hotel accommodation
  • Provide decent shops - this will not only be good for residents, it will also bring people and money from outside the immediate community, improving the footfall for local businesses.
  • Provide decent education for children.
  • Define a Retail Development Strategy
  • Develop the village and rural economies
  • Promote the clear benefits of the area for future businesses who might wish to relocate into the area and for their potential employees.
